I'VE BEEN RECUPERATING

If you are wondering where I have been the past week or so I just had surgery on my foot.  I had a bunion removed and have had the pleasure of lounging around the house and being taken care of.  Its been a real treat but a really difficult thing to do.  I am not used to asking for something and waiting to receive it.  What a lesson that has been.  I have also realized as I am getting older that I am not very patient anymore.  You would think that as you got older time wouldnt matter as much but...it does.  Even when you are lounging.  I have been thankful that I had an amazing surgeon and all went well with the procedure.  I am hobbling around the house a bit more now but all in all getting easier to walk every day.  My family has been absolutely amazing, my husband who is not really the caregiver has really shown that he is up for the task when needed.  He cooked, cleaned and brought coffee on a regular basis.  My daughter was even more amazing although she is a caregiver and giver in general.  She stopped by two days after surgery to cook and just totally wait on me.  What a blessing they both were.  My sister spent the first evening laying in bed with me watching tv and has checked on me regularly and even brought a bottle of wine over to cheer me up.  I am really taking full advantage of this time to catch up on reading, sleeping, emailing and blogging and just plain listening to the sounds around me.   Amazing all that is going on just outside your window....

The Arizona Home

HOME NOW....

I NEVER in a million years would have thought that I would have moved away from HOME.  But after many years of hearing how wonderful the southwest was from my husband....here we are.  I am still adjusting to the move emotionally but all in all have really fallen in love with the place.  Most especially the palm trees and pool.  We have moved into a condo which is much smaller than the home we had in Michigan but I love the simplicity of it and the fact that it can be cleaned in a few hours or minutes sometimes.  We are fortunate enough to live in a Lake community with an amazing clubhouse and lake.  It is nice for guests when they come into town - they can walk right across the street and enjoy a lagoon, a pool and tennis courts.  We are also minutes from the mountains, the lakes the desert and national forests.  But also minutes away from the airport and amazing shopping complexes with cafes and movie theatres.   We can hike, swim, bike and boat all  within a matter of minutes of our condo.  More to  come on the sights to see in the area.  Maybe you will visit sometime soon.  Have a great weekend.  Alana

HOME ALWAYS...

Making Some Changes

It is truly amazing what something new can do for your mood !  We just invested in new furniture for our living room.  We had all beige furniture prior to that - how boring but it was comfortable and easy to take care of.  I knew something just wasnt right in here and wasnt sure what it was and I think it was the beige.  So we painted the entire place in a soft butter creme yellow with some light green accents and we just found this awesome sofa and loveseat in a sage green with a hint of grey to it.  We then added a creme leather chair and ottoman.  It has made all the difference in my mood in there.  I want to sit and read or meditate or just listen to the sounds outside.  We have a door leading out to the front and a patio door leading to the patio of course and we have an amazing cross breeze coming through.  Its a pleasant place to be now.  Just changing the colors have changed the spirit it the room.
